Man, we love this kid.
So of course we gathered some Link's up to have a spur-of-the-moment celebration. This was for Larkin and Bubba, whose Birthday was a few weeks before.
Really, this was all just a great excuse for Larkin to eat more chips and salsa than he has ever eaten in his life.
There were also some games. Larkin was all about participating, but didn't quite get the concept of "stand behind the line and throw the frog".
So he went straight for gold and got that frog where he wanted him.
He was a little better at holding the net for his partner in the fish toss game.
As all Link celebrations do, this party included a high-stakes water balloon toss.
Check out this action shot! Nikki, with no regard for her own health, makes a diving leap to catch her balloon. But fails. Larkin has safely caught his.
Or maybe that was one of the ones he stole from the bucket while Rita was slacking in her guard duties.
Cake time was exciting, but the candles wouldn't stay lit. No matter, as long as someone is singing "Happy Birthday" to him, Larkin will blow out whatever is in front of him. Even if it was never lit to begin with (notice the brand new candle on the left?).
Poor Bub, we didn't even attempt to light his eight candles (four of which were melted together after a stay in my car with 104 degree temps). But again, the boys didn't mind pretending.
After all that, Larkin was more excited about the cookie decorating than cake eating.
And the presents! Another look of intense concentration. We've seen this face a lot recently.
He ended up loving the gifts!
And he woke up the next morning still talking about them.
