Our Fourth celebration (on the third...) included a lot of hot air:
But it didn't start there.
It started at Coney Island, with a miniature pony. Larkin liked to look and was all about "petting" him. This included running up to the horse that was smaller than him, touching it with one finger, then running away.
He was much more excited about the ice cream. But who can blame him? It had to be 105 degrees out there and HUMID.
Coney has tons of stuff to do, but we're cheap. So we watched other people enjoying all of those fun things to do. This worked out fine, because the lines were long and did I mention it was 105 degrees? Not ideal line-waiting weather.
Then Larkin found (and pointed out to us) what we came for.
Hot air balloons!
He was actually pretty excited to see the Balloon Glow.
Not as excited to actually get in the balloon, but he did anyway.
Can't tell from this pic, but Larkin and Phillip got into a balloon (something an 8 month pregnant lady can't manage) and the guy pulled the fire cord. That sent the temp in the balloon basket up to at least 130 degrees. Luckily we stayed firmly tied to the ground.
When the balloons lost their magic, Lala bought Larkin a light up sword.
Without planning to, we ended up with an excellent view of the firework show. From the parking lot. On our 2 mile hike back to our car.
L was a bit hesitant, but only once did he say "Too loud". He cuddled but watch almost the entire 30 minute show.
And eventually he even picked hi head up and told us all over and over again what the fireworks were saying. "Hoooooe" and some "BOOM". Hoe? Really.
He did pretty good for his first Fireworks show.
