First, here's your Halloween Sneak Peak:
Now onto the carving.
We gathered everyone up to participate.
Larkin wasn't allowed to use the knife, so he got out his saw instead.
Which meant that getting the top off took half an hour, but this face made it worth it.
Watson supervised.
Once inside, we found a big brown gooey mess. Rotten. Since I couldn't roast the seeds, I took over the artwork. Larkin helped by picking out which scary face he wanted from the iPad, then drawing it on his own pumpkin.
With that distraction, the carving went quick. Then he could put the lid on it, which was by far his favorite part.
Unfortunately, hurricane Sandy prevented us from putting Mr. Scary Pumpkin on the front porch. He would've blown away last night. And woken up covered in snow. So instead we posed him on the fireplace until he can claim his rightful spot on our porch.
Happy Almost-Halloween!
