Mostly chillin in the swing. Sometimes in the sun, because we had to get rid of some jaundice. Daddy makes him put on mittens during swing time because he scratches himself. Larkin is not a fan of mittens.
Daddy also got to feed him his first bottle for a supplement. But we went to the pediatrician today and they gave him a clean bill of health. He also gained 8 oz. in 4 days, which is twice what they expect from newborns. We might have a big eater on our hands!Another new experience was trying out the crib for the first time. He's not sleeping here regularly, that happens in the cradle next to mommy. A special thanks to Grandma and Papaw for the cradle and dresser. And to Aunt Beth for the crib, rocker, and other various items that are veterans of little boys.

This is the first present Mommy and Daddy bought for baby Larkin - a Panda that is bigger than him!
We tried a paci for the first time this week. It wasn't my intention to start with one so soon, but after a sleepless night of constant nursing, I gave in. I hope I haven't ruined him. We'll leave the rest of the spoiling to Grandma.
But the paci turned out to be a lifesaver during...

Bath Time! Oh man, of all his first week experiences, this was Larkin's least favorite. It was just a sponge bath, but he was completely traumatized.

But we all lived through the ordeal and we're cleaner for it. Tonight we go to dinner and Grandma and Papaw's for the first time. We did a quick visit Sunday, but I'll let you know how the extended version goes. The big question is: what will the kitty think of not being the "alpha dog" anymore?
So Larkin, what did we learn about you during this first week of your life?
1. Even though you look a little like an alien, as most infants do, you are the cutest alien I've ever seen!
2. You do NOT enjoy being naked for anything. Although you didn't give the doctors that hard of a time when they stripped you. I think it's more the sense of abandonment you feel when Daddy or Mommy put you down and make you all cold.
3. You burp much better for Daddy. You prefer when Mommy dresses you.
4. You can sleep through anything and if you don't want to be woken up, there is no way to wake you up.
5. You have tons of friends that are so excited you are here! In the hospital alone you had something like 19 visitors. And more keep coming.
6. When you are horribly upset, you smash both fists into your cheeks and give the puppy dog eyes.
7. You are our biggest blessing from God and we love you!
