Oh my goodness gracious can you wrap your head around this moment?
Me neither.
My baby is a Kindergartener!
First day we all trooped in to see him off.
He was immediately excited to start exploring. And he showed Watson around like he had been in this classroom all year, instead of one time to do a screening in the summer.
And then all of the sudden I just left him there.
It freaks me out but excites me all at the same time. He's going to love school. The boy soaks up information like it's oxygen. He gravitates towards other kids to play with and learn from. He will thrive on being part of a class.
When I picked him up that first day he was so excited to show me his classwork.
He was also pumped about doing homework and made me get out his folder asap. Unfortunately there was no homework, only a monthly calendar. He was bummed. I'm hoping this view of homework lasts all 13 years of school.
According to first week deep question and answer session, his friends are Traven, Wyatt, and William. HIs teacher is Mrs. Fisher and he told Watson that is because she used to be a fisherman but now she's a teacher and a mom. His favorite part of every day is playing on the playground. Second favorite thing is eating snack. But he's spilled his milk 3 times during snack already because he doesn't know how to pour it. He's looking forward to bringing home Josie to spend the night (the class guinea pig. yuck.) and being the teacher's assistant. He's bursting with new beginnings and I'm loving it.
Later that week we celebrated the beginning of the school year with an ice cream date, courtesy of Aunt Shara and Uncle Wes. Let the learning begin.
