Let the Halloween festivities begin!
First, a sneak peak...
But lets go back to Saturday, when we took a trip out to Shaw Farms to buy a pumpkin from a genuine patch.
We couldn't go to a farm just for a pumpkin, though. We had to visit with all the farm inhabitants. Larkin speant an inordinate amount of time in a staring contest with this particular chicken:
But he talked with all the animals.
Then it was pumpkin time. He did very good picking out his own.
Then Larkin lost interest in pumpkin hunting and went looking for the Emerald City instead.
This was one weird farm.
Finally, we ended up back with the pumpkins.
Larkin had to be among the pumpkins in order to get a good feel for which one we needed to adopt for carving.
Then he sent his Daddy off to the top of the heap to pick the perfect one.
OK, now that I look at the above pick, I realize Phillip is actually climbing for the one I picked. And we didn't even end up getting that one.
But we did end up with 2 pumpkins that we can be proud to put on our porch!
