Christmas #1

I don't have big enough chunks of time to post all about Christmas all at once.  So it's going to be a 3 part series.  Kinda a Larkin Christmas Saga, if you will.  Picture Twilight.  Very similar.
So Christmas #1 is our annual Girl's Night Christmas exchange.  Larkin was super excited to see his friends!
 Especially Baby Carter.
If you look closely, you can see Nollie restraining my child from "patting" Carter like he does when he gets excited.
He definitely patted his first taste of Christmas presents!
He loved the books and blankie from Monica, Dan, Erica, Savannah, and Carter.
Here he is rolling around in his stash, like  Scrooge McDuck used to do with his cash.  (DuckTales anyone?)
And then Larkin gave Carter his gift.
We also did a little December Birthday action for Aunt Shara and Ella.
OK, now for the informative portion of this blog.  All these multi-tasking mom blogs have how-to's for goofy crafts.  Here is my attempt.
Our Girl's Night craft was a super-trendy (and cute!) Yarn Wreath.  I'm cheap thrifty, so we did the ornament-sized version.  Turns out styrofoam rings -even in ornament size - are way too expensive.  Much cheaper: baby toys.
Step 1: Go get yourself a stackable ring thingy from WalMart.  (None of Larkin's toys were harmed in the making of this craft).
Step 2: Cut a manageable sized piece of yarn.  This next pic is more of a What Not To Do example.
Step 3: Thread yarn through hole and around and around and around and around ring.  Repeat as necessary, until...
Step 4: Wrap entire ring and secure in back with hot glue. (Model: Ella)
Step 5: Add embellishments with more hot glue.  (Model: Nollie)
Embellishments can be anything from felt flowers, to glittery leaves, to berries.  Tip from Ella: less is not necessarily more.
Step 6: Add a ribbon to hang it from the tree!
 Optional steps: Model wreaths appropriately.
 Hang on pretty tree.
Bust out sparkling grape juice to celebrate!

Fun times with Girls and Crafts!
