In the middle of all the Halloween Hoopla, Phillip and I left
Not on what I would call a jet plane.
But it did the trick and got us to Colorado, as we hoped it would.
Not the area of Colorado we needed to be in though, so then there was a 2+ hour drive through some of this deliciousness.
That got us to Mountain Village.
We slept here, but still not where we needed to be.
To get to our destination, we had to jump on one of these.
We had to leave behind this,
(We slept in one of those red-roofed chalets)
Go over the mountain top,
And down into the bowl that is Telluride:
All this for a wedding.
Thank goodness Amber and Jonathan decided on a mountain top as the place to begin their life together!
| There was a sign that told me I wasn't supposed to take pictures during the ceremony. But I had to sneak this one with my phone because mountain. |
Then back down the mountain for the reception.
I was too busy dancing and eating to take anymore pictures.
Luckily we had time to enjoy the beautiful setting for a few more days. And we made the most of them.
We aren't total slouches, but we aren't avid hikers either. So we started small.
We did pretty good on this 2.5 mile hike, but we would've been better if we had eaten something more than a PSL before we left.
Still, we're smiling at about half-way up.
And fully enjoying God's glory.
And we actually did MAKE IT.
9,894 ft elevation.
Out of breath and it would've been cold if we weren't sweating from exertion.
The walk down was way easier and good thing, because we were about to pass out from lack of nutrients. Apparently elevation kills your appetite, but that doesn't mean you don't still need to eat.
Noted.
Another day we decided to pay someone else to do the hard work and we'd just go along for the ride.
We know nothing about the mountains.
There was no easy ride on these weird vehicles on the way up to Imogene Pass.
Seriously, this is the face I made as we started the climb. On the cliffs. While passing other vehicles.
We saw some spectacular things, but we had the bruised butts and sore muscles to prove it.
See the faint criss cross line on the side of the mountain in the center? That would be our road:
Survived another
Telluride Adventure!
And then I have to dump the rest of these pictures here. Because they are beyond what words can express.
Not a lot of snow caps, but plenty of golden aspens.
This was fun Colorado, we'll have to do it again sometime.
