4 Months

Happy 4 Months to Little Larkin!
Larkin Monthly News - Issue 4

You are turning into a real person!  You are a bit on the tiny side though.  You are 25 inches, which puts you just about average.  You weigh 13.1 lbs. and that's the 14th percentile.  So the doc says you can have cereal to fatten you up!

You still wear size 2 diapers and mostly 3 month clothes.  Some 3 - 6 fits you but it's big.  And you still wear some newborn pants - yikes.

You have pretty much mastered the use of your hands.  You used to prop toys on your face and hope they made it near your mouth so you could chew on them...
Now both hands easily grasp EVERYTHING and take it straight to your drool covered mouth.

This month you got to meet your new friend Carter!
He looks twice your size in this picture, but you aren't THAT small.  He was just closer to the camera but you are both obviously having a blast at your first meeting.  Hit it right off.
For your 3 month Birthday we got out your exercaucer. For the few weeks before that you insisted on standing whenever someone was holding you. The exersaucer was the greatest invention ever! You absolutely love the thing. In the mornings we used to play together on the floor. For the last few mornings all you will do is stare at the exersaucer. You won't talk to me or look my way. Just the exersaucer. So I give in a stick you in there and you are in heaven.

You also found your feet this month!  This can provide hours of enjoyment.  If you would just stay on your back.
Instead, you are rolling all over the place!  I don't know if you realize you are actually getting from one place to the next, but you sure don't stay where I put you for long.  You are also dying to sit up so you do a lot of crunches.  This is what puts you  in the 14th percentile!

This past month you went through a growling stage.  Sounded just like a disgruntled Poppy.  Then it moved to a high pitched squeal.  People at church think you are weird.  Now, for the most part, you are talking like a normal baby.  You also like to blow raspberries (and spit)
And we say goodbye to...
Little bottles.  We had to upsize to the 8 oz bottles and level 2 nipples so you are sucking down the milk.

Hands in your mouth.  Now you pick up anything and everything and suck on it.  I think we don't have to worry about you being a thumb-sucker.

The Miracle Blanket!  We have been weaning you off of swaddling which has been marginally successful.  Recently we've made some breakthroughs and I think you are good to sleep all night until you wake to eat at 4 or 5 am.

Napping.  For some reason you are not sleeping longer than about an hour at a time during the day.  3 short naps is about all we get.  I'm hoping this is a phase.

This is the face that matches your hairdo..
Larkin, we have so much fun with our little man!
